Help & FAQ

Answers to the most common questions.

What is Humdinger?

A highly customizable social score tracker. You create an event, share it with friends through any messenger, and tap to bump the score — which fires a notification (with its own sound) to everyone following along. It’s a shared scoreboard crossed with a playful ping, good for serious tracking or silly stuff alike.

How do I create an event?

Tap the + button and pick a template — Tally, Shared Goal, Leaderboard, Teams, or Streak — or build your own from scratch. Templates come with smart defaults, so you can start in one tap and customize later.

How do I share or invite friends?

Open your event, tap Share, and send the link through any messenger — Messages, WhatsApp, anything. Whoever opens it can join in a tap. If they don’t have the app yet, the link takes them to install it and then drops them straight into your event.

How do I join an event someone sent me?

Tap the link they sent. If you have Humdinger installed, it opens to the event. If not, you’ll land on a page with a link to install — sign in, and you’ll join automatically.

What is a “ding”?

A ding is what happens when someone taps a trigger: the score bumps and a notification fires to everyone subscribed, playing the sound the creator chose for that trigger. It’s the heartbeat of the app.

Why didn’t I hear a custom sound?

Custom sounds play through the normal iOS notification system, so they follow your device settings — a custom sound does not override Silent mode, a Focus, or Do Not Disturb. The first time a brand-new custom sound is used it may also fall back to the default while it finishes downloading. This is an iOS limitation, not a bug.

Do widgets and the Live Activity update instantly?

Home- and lock-screen widgets refresh on iOS’s schedule, so the number you see can lag slightly — that’s expected. The Live Activity and Dynamic Island update live by push while an event is active. Tapping a widget button to trigger is always immediate, even if the displayed value catches up a moment later.

What is the canvas?

A shared drawing space attached to an event that everyone can draw on together. It’s append-only — strokes layer on top of each other rather than overwriting — so two people can draw at once without clobbering each other’s work.

What’s free, and what’s Pro?

The entire social loop is free forever: creating events, joining friends, a generous set of default sounds, widgets, the Live Activity, and a canvas. Humdinger Pro lets you create your own custom sounds and text, use the full premium sound library, add extra canvases, and use advanced tools. You can get Pro two ways — a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime unlock — whichever you prefer. Receiving is always free: your friends hear your custom sounds and see your text even if they never buy Pro.

What happens if my subscription lapses?

Nothing you made disappears. If a monthly subscription ends, you go back to the free plan, but you keep every custom sound and canvas you created, and everything you’ve already shared into friends’ events keeps firing for them forever. You simply can’t create new custom content — or assign a premium sound to a new trigger — until you’re on Pro again. The lifetime unlock never lapses.

How do I manage or restore my Pro purchase?

Pro is tied to your Apple ID. On a new device or a fresh install, open Settings and tap Restore Purchase (or tap Restore on the paywall) and it comes back at no extra cost. If you’re on the monthly plan, Settings → Humdinger Pro shows Manage Subscription, which opens your App Store subscription settings where you can change or cancel it.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Profile → Delete account and type DELETE to confirm. This permanently removes your name, sign-in, and private data. Scores and sounds you contributed to friends’ events keep working for them — anonymously, without your name. It can’t be undone.
